RECOVERY PLAN

There are four overlying objectives to the Florida Manatee Recovery Plan that were implemented in 2001: 1) minimize causes of manatee disturbance, harassment, injury, and mortality, 2) determine and monitor the status of manatee populations, 3) protect, identify, evaluate, and monitor manatee habitats, 4) facilitate manatee recovery through public awareness and education.

Conservation actions are focused on efforts to reduce boat-related injuries and deaths, flood gate and navigation lock deaths, habitat protection, manatee rescue, rehabilitation, and release, and public education and awareness.
