ADDRESSING ALGAL BLOOMS AND SEAGRASS DEPLETION
One plan to combat the harmful algal blooms off of the Florida coastline is to explore brevetoxin, the toxin responsible for creating the red tide. To actively address the depletion of seagrass, manatee's main food source, Florida wants to prioritize native plant species through water regulation. The water transparency establishments aim to promote more sunlight exposure for seagrass. Also, the complete monitoring of seagrass in specific regions will be highlighted so that any damages or changes in the behavior or appearance of seagrass is called to attention.

The four goals related to algal blooms and seagrass are 1) maintaining foreign species of plants that are diminishing native species; 2) protection groups to manage manatee region; 3) removing exotic plant species; 4) focus on keeping the introduced and exotic species that manatee's have grown to rely on.
